Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (abbreviation: SSFF & ASIA) 2024, which is recognized by the US Academy Awards and is one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia, is hosted by Milbon Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director), a manufacturer of hair care and cosmetics for beauty salons. In collaboration with President Hidenori Sakashita, we will be holding the “MILBON BEAUTY PROGRAM” at Omotesando Hills Space Omotesando from 17:50 on Saturday, June 8th.

Saya Ichikawa, who is active in , will discuss her impressions. Furthermore, the two will also talk about their thoughts on “spiritual richness through beauty.”
SSFF & ASIA and Milbon will start a short film distribution project “MILBON BEAUTY MOVIES” in 2022. Every month, we stream online a variety of carefully selected short films from around the world with the theme of “beauty,” and we also regularly hold real events with special guests.

In 1990, he made his Hollywood debut in the Japan-US co-production film “Crisis 2050”. Member of the American Society of Actors (SAG). Since then, he has been widely active in movies, dramas, stage plays, radio, etc. Appeared in stage productions such as “Les Miserables” and “Miss Saigon.” Since 1999, he has presided over the “Short Shorts Film Festival”, an international short film festival originating in Japan, and received the Commissioner’s Award from the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Appointed as a “VISIT JAPAN Ambassador” by the Japan Tourism Agency, a member of the Film Ethics Committee, and a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ “Japan House” Expert Advisory Council. Selected by the Cabinet Office as one of the Japanese people who are active in the world and spread the word about Japan. Received the 1st Tokiko Iwatani Award Encouragement Award. Received the 63rd Yokohama Cultural Award.

In 2001, the name was changed to Short Shorts Film Festival (SSFF), and in 2004 it was recognized as an Academy Award-recognized film festival. In the same year, the Short Shorts Film Festival Asia (co-hosted by SSFF ASIA: Tokyo) was established, with the aim of disseminating new visual culture from Asia and nurturing emerging young filmmakers, and now known as SSFF & ASIA. We hold a film festival under the general name of . To commemorate the film festival’s 20th anniversary in 2018, the Grand Prize winner was named the George Lucas Award, named after director George Lucas. In January 2019, the “Short Shorts Film Festival in Hollywood” was held as a 20th anniversary commemorative event, and from the 2019 film festival, the live action category (International, Asia International, Japan categories) and The four works that received each award in the Fiction category, and from 2022, five works, including the Excellence Award in the Animation category, have acquired the right to be nominated for the following year’s Academy Award in the short film category. SSFF & ASIA will continue to support young creators through the film festival.
