From April 22, 2024 (Monday), Gakken (Shinagawa, Tokyo/President: Toru Goromaru) will effectively implement the “Comprehensive Inquiry Time” held as a compulsory class in high schools. We will be sequentially publishing the “Gakken Inquiry Series,” which are teaching materials and services for high schools to help students do the same. *
* ■Purpose of product publication*
We developed this program to help high school students experience the “fun and enrichment of learning” that we have cherished since our founding, with the aim of nurturing “inquiry-oriented human resources” who can learn on their own and open up their futures.
The “Gakken Inquiry Series” provides the following three teaching materials and services that are ideal for the flow of inquiry activities.
* 1. “Gakken Inquiry Video Basic Course” *: Learn how to proceed with inquiry activities with videos
* 2. “Gakken Inquiry Essay Course” *: You can look back on your research activities, summarize them in an essay format, and have your answers corrected.
* 3. “Gakken Inquiry On-site Lessons” *: Students can learn about society through lectures and group work by personnel dispatched by companies to set assignments.
Through these efforts, we support high school students to acquire self-directed inquiry learning.
Two years have passed since “Comprehensive Inquiry Time” was made a compulsory subject in the 2022 revision of the high school curriculum guidelines. On the other hand, I have heard that many high schools are still fumbling with their efforts. In our interviews with teachers, we received many feedback that they were struggling to connect their research activities with students’ career paths and academic activities.
The “Gakken Inquiry Series” supports a series of inquiry activities from the introduction to the conclusion, and the concept of the product and service is that the results of inquiry activities will lead to further admission to university and desired employment. .
