*June 1st (Sat) – 2nd (Sun), 2024/SHIMOKITA COLLEGE 1st floor gallery*

The first exhibition by Ubsnant Co., Ltd. “Flowers are in the field”
will be held from Saturday, June 1st to Sunday, June 2nd, 2024. Ubsnant is a comprehensive art company that consistently creates spaces, objects, and images where local culture and modern life coexist. Ubsnant was founded in March 2024 by architectural designer Suzuki Arata, photographer Chisako Suzuki, and sculptor Asuka Hoshi. Established.
This time, we will be exhibiting works that bring back a sense of nostalgia and bring back the “original landscape of the earth,” which is being lost in modern cities where globalism is sweeping and homogenization is increasing. Through cross-disciplinary creations such as space, photography, sculpture, video, and product design, we project to the world the “ideal state of the earth.”
(This exhibition is “Shimokitazawa Railway Festival 2024” where 13 facilities in Shimokitazawa will have stalls

will be held at the same time. )
* “Flowers as They Are in a Field” *
In recent years, the world has been losing the “original landscapes of the Earth.”
Globalism and neoliberalism are sweeping the world, and urbanization is progressing worldwide, transcending the urban-rural divide, creating homogeneous landscapes everywhere.
This extends to the so-called countryside, where once-respected local cultures such as nature and indigenous materials are being neglected by modern principles that see them as exploitable.

In this exhibition, we will be exhibiting works that will help us, who live in such a time of crisis, once again regain the “earth’s original landscape” and visualize “the earth as it should be.”

Ubsnant advocates a “comprehensive art” that consistently creates spaces, architecture, sculptures, products, photographs, videos, etc., and is greatly influenced by the tea ceremony, one of the oldest “comprehensive arts.”
The title “As flowers grow in the field” is one of the “Seven Rules of Rikyu” in the tea ceremony. This means that it is important to remind people of the situation.
Speculating on the “ideal state of the Earth” where local culture and modern life coexist, we created “spatial fixtures” with motifs of somewhat familiar objects such as noren, stop stones, barriers, doors, folding screens, and shoji screens.
piece)”, we will create a space where you can feel nostalgia in your body even though you are in the city.
According to each Ubusna (place of origin), flowers are in the field, materials are in their place of origin, and people are in their hometown.
We hope that the “earth’s original landscape,” which is
disappearing, will coexist with the lives of all visitors.
