Hiroshima Prefecture’s Miwazakura Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. will release a new pure rice sake “Miwasakura Kurakurasuru Hatsukoi no Aji” on Friday, May 10, 2024. We provide a “high-quality intoxication experience” for young people who are increasingly away from Japanese sake.
……
Miwazakura Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (founded in 1923, head office: Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, CEO: Yoshiaki Sakata) has designed and designed Junmai Sake, which is made with careful attention to the ingredients, as a product for young people who are becoming
increasingly detached from Japanese sake. Developed in collaboration with a marketing company (And Design Co., Ltd./peaberry Co., Ltd.). We will change the value of “alcohol smell”, which is one of the reasons young people dislike sake, and offer a new type of “junmai sake” with a strong natural orientation.
(Online store released on Friday, May 10, 2024 / Price: 1,991 yen (2,190 yen including tax)

■The brewer himself handles everything from rice production. Located in the main production area of Hiroshima Prefecture’s rice suitable for sake brewing, almost all of the raw rice is produced within the town. The sake brewery is located in Miwa-cho, Miyoshi City, which is blessed with clear air and clean water and is the hometown of the Hattan Nishiki, Hattan, and Senbon Nishiki rice varieties suitable for sake brewing. We polish the raw rice in-house to bring out the flavor of the rice, and continue to make sake that is timeless and is known as “rice sake.”

■“Miwasakura Junmaishu” has a rich flavor
Amino acids, which are the flavor components of Japanese sake, are produced during the process in which enzymes in koji break down proteins. Since a lot of protein is contained on the surface of rice, Miwasakura, which has a rice polishing ratio of 70%, tends to have a lot of flavor.

■Label design challenge
The label has a playful two-layer sticker structure. When you turn over the first layer of stickers that say “Peel off the disguise,” you will find ways to enjoy your second sip of Junmai sake, such as “Enjoy warm,” “Enjoy pairing with food,” and “Terroir of Miyoshi City.” The expressed label will appear. The character design is by aya.m, a popular illustrator living in Hiroshima (297,000 Instagram followers/as of May 10, 2024).

■《Concept》is a “quality intoxication experience” for young people We do not polish the rice too much, but instead make use of the rice’s natural flavor to create sake that evokes the climate (terroir) of Miwa-cho, Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where the rice was grown. We will develop it as a new sake brand that looks at the origins of rice sake and Japanese sake, and provides a “sweet, melting, intoxicating moment” that is popular among today’s young people.
