On April 26, 2024, the “Act on Promoting the Integration and Efficiency of Distribution Operations and the Bill to Amend Part of the Motor Vehicle Transportation Business Act” was passed by a plenary session of the House of Councilors and became law. When this law comes into effect, shipper companies and logistics businesses that handle packages over a certain amount will be required to create plans to improve logistics efficiency, such as reducing waiting times. In order to reduce waiting times, it is essential to first identify the factors that cause them. Particularly effective in this process is the use of an indicator called “wait-to-wait”.
Responsible waiting time refers to the waiting time caused by the logistics base. By introducing this concept, we can distinguish the waiting time that occurs when the driver arrives earlier than the predetermined reservation time and clarify the exact cause of the waiting time.
In other words, by starting to reduce waiting time, you can speed up the entry-to-exit process at your logistics hub and improve overall efficiency.
