Kanda University of International Studies (Mihama-ku, Chiba
City/President: Takahisa Miyauchi) is a two-time Grammy Award-winning professional orchestra, “Mariachi Los Camperos,” and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) orchestra, “Mariachi de Uclatrán.” ” will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, to perform a live performance of the Mexican folk music “Mariachi.” This performance was held as part of the “Mariachi Japan Tour,” and at our university’s performance, Motoya Izumi, Junko Izumi, and Tokuro Miyake, the 20th head master and Kyogen master of the Izumi-ryu school, made special appearances. We will perform “Kyogen small songs and small dances”. This performance will be held as an innovative attempt to fuse Mexican folk music and Japanese traditional performing arts.

Event history
At Kanda University of International Studies, we have an environment where you can learn languages and cultures from around the world, and the Department of Ibero-American Linguistics cultivates human resources who can work in Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries, including Mexico. With the cooperation of UCLA and the Embassy of Mexico in Japan, we have decided to hold this performance with the cooperation of UCLA and the Embassy of Mexico in Japan, in order to share the precious opportunity of performing by a Grammy Award-winning orchestra with the local community. collaborated with the Izumi family to produce Japan’s first “Spanish Kyogen” (*1). *1 A kyogen performance entirely in Spanish will be performed at the kyogen event “World Traveling Kyogen I: Viaje” held in September 2022.
