Micron now offers Crucial LPCAMM2 with LPDDR5X memory for new AI-enabled Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 workstations
……
Revolutionary upgradable notebook memory form factor delivers 1.3x faster performance and lower power consumption than DDR5 SODIMM memory BOISE, ID, May 7, 2024 – Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) is introducing a new generation of innovative notebooks featuring LPDDR5X mobile memory to improve laptop performance for business professionals and creators. We announced the availability of Crucial(R) LPCAMM2, a memory form factor for PCs. LPCAMM2 consumes up to 58% less active power*1 and 64% less footprint*2 compared to DDR5 SODIMMs, with each module supporting higher bandwidth and dual channels. . LPCAMM2 is an ideal high-performance memory solution for processing AI PCs and complex workloads, and is compatible with the powerful and versatile Lenovo(R) ThinkPad(R) P1 Gen 7 mobile workstation. I have it. “LPCAMM2 delivers the benefits of the latest mobile high-performance memory technology without sacrificing superior performance,
upgradeability, power efficiency and space savings,” said Jonathan Weech, senior director of product marketing for Micron’s Commercial Products Group. “With LPCAMM2, Micron offers a future-proof memory solution to support demanding creative and AI workloads.”
“The Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 leverages the latest LPCAMM2 form factor to deliver high performance, fast speeds for mobile workstations and thin and light notebook PCs,” said Yasumichi Tsukamoto, Vice President and Distinguished Engineer, Commercial Product Solutions Development, Lenovo. It’s the first laptop on the market today to feature AI workflows, expandable memory capacity, and improved battery life. This powerful combination not only improves the user experience, but is also used in the LPCAMM2 module. “The low-power memory will also help reduce the overall power consumption of Lenovo laptops.”
By utilizing LPDDR5X memory, LPCAMM2 achieves up to 7,500MT/s, which is 1.3x faster than DDR5 SODIMM. This memory form factor also helps reduce power consumption and improve battery life. With up to 80% less power consumption in standby compared to DDR5 SODIMM, users can work longer on the go without sacrificing performance.
Each LPCAMM2 module supports 128-bit CPU bus width, maximizing bandwidth for AI workloads/applications and further expanding the possibilities of AI-enabled PCs. PCMark 10 tests showed up to 7% performance improvement for digital content creation workloads and up to 15% performance improvement for productivity workloads. Unlike soldered memory, LPCAMM2 is upgradable, allowing users to easily replace modules and increase memory capacity whenever needed. The thinner, fanless design makes it portable and sleek.
LPCAMM2 is available exclusively at ( https://www.crucial.com/ ). Available in 32GB and 64GB capacities and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. For more information, please visit

*1: Power measurements in mW per 64-bit bus at the same LPDDR5X speed as SODIMM. Reduce system standby power by up to 80% compared to SODIMMs
*2: Calculated based on comparison of total volume (motherboard + socket + memory) of commercially available dual stack DDR5 SODIMM module (32,808 mm3) and LPCAMM2 module (11,934 mm3)
*3: LPDDR5X data transfer rate of 7,500MT/s is 1.34 times the standard DDR5 SODIMM data transfer rate of 5,600MT/s
*4: The digital content creation workload tests the performance of photo and video editing and 3D content creation, while the
productivity workload measures PC performance of office applications such as spreadsheets and writing.
*5: Limited lifetime warranty valid worldwide except Austria, Belgium, France and Germany.
