https://www.seibu-la.co.jp/yatsuhigata/event/202405041615209610.html What is “Yatsu Tidal Flat”, a wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention? Yatsu Higata, located in Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture, is a tidal flat of approximately 40 hectares that remains in the innermost part of Tokyo Bay. Many creatures live here, including waterfowl, lugworms, shellfish, crabs, and plankton. It is especially important as a migratory stopover for waterbirds such as sandpipers and plovers, who travel between northern countries such as Siberia and Alaska and southern countries such as Southeast Asia and Australia.
A valuable stopover site for migratory birds
Yatsu Tidal Flat is a Ramsar Convention-registered wetland that aims to conserve and wisely use wetlands such as tidal flats, which have various functions such as habitat for waterfowl and water
purification. We also participate in the East Asia-Australia Regional Flyway Partnership, which aims to conserve waterbirds.
