Regarding the world ranking results of supercomputer “Fugaku” ……
A supercomputer jointly developed by the National Research and Development Agency RIKEN (Note 1) (hereinafter referred to as RIKEN) and which began trial use in April 2020 and shared use (full-scale operation) in March 2021. “Fugaku” has been ranked first in the world for nine consecutive terms in the “HPCG (High Performance Conjugate Gradient)” and “Graph500” rankings of world supercomputers. Also, it was ranked 4th in “TOP500” and 4th in “HPL-MxP”.
These rankings were announced on May 13th (Japan time) at the international conference on HPC (High Performance Computing), “ISC High Performance 2024,” which is currently being held at the Congress Center Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany, and online. It will be announced on May 13th.
Since its trial use in April 2020 and shared use in March 2021, “Fugaku” has been used for social implementation in a wide range of fields such as life science, disaster prevention and mitigation, energy, manufacturing, basic science, and social economy. We continue to produce various results at various levels.
Based on the superior technology that made “Fugaku” possible, we are developing “FUJITSU-MONAKA,” an Arm architecture CPU that delivers high performance, low power consumption, reliability, and ease of use. In addition, the large-scale language model “Fugaku-LLM”, which was trained and released on “Fugaku” in a joint research in which our company also participated, is a model with excellent Japanese language ability and is trained with unique data and ensures safety and transparency. It is expected to be used in the next generation of innovative research and business. We have started offering
“Fugaku-LLM” through the “Fujitsu Research Portal”, where you can try out our cutting-edge technology for free.
Going forward, we will continue to further improve the technology we have cultivated with Fugaku and contribute to the utilization of Fugaku.
