The award came for the movie “MS.Destiny” (English title:
MS.Destiny), which Hiroyama starred in and produced, and Mickey Curtis, who starred in the movie, also won the Best Actor Award. *

The story is about an old man (Mickey Curtis), a former musician, who meets a mysterious “fatemaker” woman (Koyo Hiroyama) who manages people’s memories and lives. The story unfolds when a person is forced to decide whether to extend their lifespan in exchange for their memories. Although the main story is a 25-minute short film, it is a human story that touches the depths of your heart.

Upon receiving the award, Hiroyama said, “I almost burst out screaming at the good news.I am filled with gratitude to all the staff and cast members who participated in this project, and to my seniors who helped me from the planning stage.Mickey-san. is my master of rakugo, and this work was started out of my desire to make a film with my master, Mickey Curtis, with the breath, sound, and atmosphere that only an 85-year-old can produce, as well as an old acquaintance. The scene where Mickey sings the theme song, which was composed by Haruomi Hosono, is a must-see.I don’t think many people in Japan have the opportunity to watch short films in movie theaters, but at 25 minutes long, it’s very easy to watch, and it should be easy to relate to in modern times. Therefore, I will do my best to prepare for the theatrical release in order to spread the short film even further in Japan,” he said with joy and enthusiasm.

It is extremely rare for a Japanese producer to win the Producer Award at an overseas film festival.
In addition to his acting activities, Hiroyama is also focusing on producing, and we are looking forward to seeing him do even more in the future.
