TripAdvisor investigates travel trends for summer 2024
……
The world’s largest travel platform “Tripadvisor(R)” (Headquarters: Needham, Massachusetts, NASDAQ: TRIP, CEO: Matt Goldberg, Japanese version site: www.tripadvisor.jp) is a global travel platform with 6 companies worldwide, including Japan. We have announced travel trends for summer 2024 based on an attitude survey of travelers in countries [1] and site usage data [2].
As a result of the attitude survey, 80% of travelers answered that they are planning a trip this summer (June 1st to August 31st, 2024). Among Japanese travelers, 68% said they were planning to travel this summer, a slight increase compared to the same period last year (65%). In addition, 17% of travelers said they would use AI when planning their trip this summer, with 32% of Singaporean travelers in particular planning to use AI, compared to 8% in Japan. It appears that new technology is beginning to be incorporated into the planning of the project.
Perhaps due to the weaker yen, 85% of Japanese travelers said they were planning to travel domestically, indicating that domestic travel continues to be popular from last year (80%). Other factors affecting travel plans include abnormal weather, with 56% of Japanese travelers saying that abnormal weather such as extreme heat and flooding will have an impact on their travel destinations this summer.
