What are three bodies?
The -Three Bodies- trilogy is the biggest best-selling series in modern China, with sales of 29 million copies worldwide.
It has been serialized in the Chinese science fiction magazine Kagen World since 2006, and when it was published as a book in 2008, it exploded in popularity. Recognized not only throughout China but also around the world, in 2015, the first book in the series, Three Bodies, became the first translated book and the first Asian author to win the Hugo Award, the biggest science fiction award.

Liu Cixin
Born in Beijing in 1963. While working as an engineer at a power plant, he wrote science fiction short stories. “Three Bodies” won the Hugo Award, the biggest award in science fiction, for the first time for a translated book and for an Asian author. The -Three Body- trilogy became a huge hit series in Japan as well. He is one of the most noteworthy writers today.
His Japanese translation works include “En Liu Cixin Short Stories” (Hayakawa Bunko SF), “Supernova Ekigen” and “Cretaceous Period” (Hayakawa Shobo).
