[Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture 2024] “Local club” starts activities *Transition of school club activities to “local clubs”*
In Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, 48 groups were officially recognized as “local clubs” among the active groups recruited in March 2020 in order to transfer school extracurricular activities to society, and from May, students will be able to experience them. We are starting our activities.
In Kawanishi City, in order to respond to issues such as the diversification of children’s needs for school club activities and the decrease in the number of teachers who serve as advisors due to the declining birthrate, Kawanishi City has reviewed the way club activities have been conducted up until now, and has changed the approach for 2020. We are in the process of transitioning to activities as a “regional club.”
In March 2020, we held our first recruitment campaign, and as a result, we received many applications from local cultural and sports-related people, NPO organizations, private business operators, etc., and interviews were held with the City Board of Education and each junior high school. After that, 48 organizations were officially recognized as regional clubs. Trial activities will be held in May, and full-scale activities will begin in June.
In addition, the second round of recruitment for regional clubs is scheduled to begin in early July.As with the first round, the “regional clubs” that have applied will be screened, and operations are expected to begin in early September. We are planning to.
The city will continue to widely recruit organizations that can support children’s activities as “local clubs”, and in addition to the sports and cultural arts activities that have been carried out in club activities, We will create opportunities for new activities that were previously unavailable, and aim to create a system that supports children’s activities throughout society.
