Wang Xizhi was a legendary calligrapher who was active in China approximately 1,700 years ago and was later revered as a “sage of calligraphy”. Learn about Wang Xizhi’s representative work “Orchid Pavilion”. The lecturer was Hiromi Oguma, who designed the character “Makoto” displayed at the Shinsengumi Furusato History Museum in Hino City. Mr. Oguma will convey the fun and charm of calligraphy. ■Gyosho’s masterpiece “Rantei Preface”
“Lantei Preface” is a famous poem full of emotion that was written by moving the pen with the joy of a flowing water festival and the beauty of nature in mind. It is written in elegant calligraphy and has had a great influence even today.
What is written? What’s so amazing about it? I will explain it in an easy-to-understand manner even for beginners, and try actually writing with a brush.
