incorporated association that promotes and accelerates efforts to achieve the SDGs and build sustainable campuses at domestic higher education institutions, administrative agencies, and corporations, and to promote active efforts in other countries. This organization aims to collaborate with networks and contribute to building a sustainable, environmentally conscious society in Japan, using the campus as a model. Since our founding as a voluntary organization on March 26, 2014, we have held an annual conference and general meeting every year, as well as engaged in a variety of other activities. However, in recent years, initiatives for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been promoted around the world, and contributing to carbon neutrality is also becoming more important. In light of these domestic and international trends, we believe that the responsibility of this council has become even heavier than when it was established, and that we will need to carry out our mission even more strongly in the future. We decided to develop it as a corporation, and on April 19, 2022, we established the Sustainable Campus Promotion Council, a general incorporated association.
*Sustainable campus refers to tangible environmentally conscious activities related to energy saving and resource saving, CO2 reduction, environmental impact reduction, transportation planning, etc., as well as environmental education and research that includes these issues, regional cooperation, food issues, and management methods. This is a campus that simultaneously plans and implements intangible initiatives related to such matters.
Our company mainly engages in the following businesses:
1. Information sharing and dissemination to promote the construction of sustainable campuses in Japan
2. Survey and research on initiatives related to building sustainable campuses in other countries
3. Promoting collaboration with domestic and international
institutions related to sustainable campus construction
Four. Creation and dissemination of an evaluation system for building a sustainable campus
5. Guidance and advice to university departments regarding sustainable campus construction
6. Consideration of university management methods to promote the construction of a sustainable campus
7. Project for student participation in building a sustainable campus 8. Award for efforts related to building an excellent sustainable campus 9. Other activities necessary to achieve the purpose of the association Our organization has been participating as a cooperating organization since the launch of the “Universities Coalition to Contribute to Carbon Neutrality,” which aims to strengthen collaboration between universities in order to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050.
