“Max Mart” is an unmanned store format of Maxvalu Tokai. We opened our first store, “Max Mart Shizuoka Asahi TV Store” in March 2022, and have expanded to Shizuoka, Aichi, and Mie prefectures.
Safey cameras are installed at all Max Mart stores, and the images taken are checked by employees in the department that oversees Max Mart’s business. It is mainly used for “remote visits”. In the unlikely event that an incident occurs, you can check the situation for “crime prevention” by looking back at the recorded video. Utilization for remote store visits (improving product replenishment efficiency and creating attractive stores)
In addition to checking product sales and whether there are any out-of-stock items using POS, we also use video to check the state of the store, which we use to create a store with a high level of customer satisfaction. You can see things like, “There were cases where people came to the store and left after seeing shelves that were out of stock,” and “At what point did they run out of stock and were they sold out?”
With the “motion detection function” that flags areas where there is movement, you can narrow down your review to the scene where the customer visited the store. You can efficiently view the necessary parts of a problem, increasing the accuracy of thinking about countermeasures.
Use for crime prevention
We choose a location where we can see the entire store and the cash register and install the camera. Many stores are unmanned and open 24 hours a day, and they are also used to monitor the store during times when there are few users.
■Comments from Yuichi Ehama, Manager of New Business Promotion Group, Non-Store Business Promotion Department, Corporate Planning
Headquarters
Safie’s viewer is simple and easy to view, which is very helpful. Since I check multiple stores several times a day, I have to watch videos often, but since I can use the app on my smartphone to operate and view smoothly, I can use it stress-free.
It is easy to navigate back through the video, and the motion detection function makes it efficient to focus on the scene where the customer was present. This is especially useful when you want to look back in detail, such as days when items were sold out or there was a lot of inventory left, or when new products or event products went on sale.
Cameras are installed at the stage of preparing to open a new store, and are also used to check the progress of construction and
collaborate with the site. Currently, we have installed cameras in all of our stores, which are useful in our daily operations, so we feel that the cost performance of our running costs is also good.
