Headwaters Co., Ltd. JR West’s group digital strategy aims to improve operational efficiency and quality through generative AI, centered on three restructuring initiatives. One such initiative, “Copilot for Station Employees,” is a generative AI assistant that instantly obtains the necessary information from a wide range of business rules and products. By utilizing Copilot for station staff, we aim to improve the efficiency of customer response and service quality.

Visualize the characteristics of each area, category, and product from the inquiry content, and analyze and extract areas for improvement. Headwaters leverages its technical capabilities in LLM (Large-Scale Language Model) and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems to develop Azure OpenAI Service (*2) and Microsoft Fabric on the generative AI platform “SyncLect Generative AI” (*1). We provide development support for linking (*3).

■About the future
JR West and Headwaters have begun developing an app for a
demonstration experiment of “Copilot for Station Staff” starting in March 2024. In the future, we will gradually expand the stations where it has been introduced and the scope of document/data analysis, with the aim of improving station staff’s work efficiency and service quality.
