The Dream Yamagata Satoyama Project will be held on May 26th (Sunday) at Marine Park Nezugaseki, Nezugaseki Fishing Port, Old Nezugaseki Beach, Marina Nezugaseki, Beach Park, etc. in Nezugaseki, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, during Zero Marine Litter Week. At the same time, a beach cleanup was carried out with the cooperation and participation of the Nezugaseki Neighborhood Association.
This event is part of the Nippon Foundation’s “Ocean and Japan Project,” which connects people through the ocean in order to pass on the ocean to the next generation.

Thank you to everyone for your hard work on a chilly early morning with a temperature of 8 degrees due to radiation cooling, just as the weather forecast predicted.

Marine Park Nezugaseki Beach is a calm beach surrounded by a breakwater, but it is full of souvenirs from the Sea of Japan and the rough winter waves. Many containers with Hangul characters were also seen.
There is trash scattered throughout the seaside park that appears to have been blown away by the wind.
Despite the chilly 8 degrees Celsius temperature, everyone worked together to collect the items.
The slopes that are used in the barrier-free beach project are carefully constructed…
Every year, the area near the slope is a particularly common gathering place for marine debris.
We cleaned the facility with the hope that it can be used safely this year as well.

Activities: The Nippon Foundation’s subsidized project “Creating ocean experience opportunities at barrier-free beaches using automobile scraps” is a united effort based on the concept of leveraging the characteristics of member organizations and working together to achieve larger projects. We are implementing regional revitalization and social contribution projects.
There is a voluntary organization called Satoyama Network Yamagata that is related to the project, and they are working together to expand the circle of their activities.
We actively participate in activities aimed at creating a decarbonized society, and as members of the Dream Yamagata Satoyama Project, each member organization carries out its own environmental conservation activities.

The sea supports Japanese people’s lives in various ways, sometimes giving them peace of mind, excitement, and inspiration. Like that People across the country, including children, should take the current situation, such as the deterioration of the ocean’s environment, as their own, and take action to protect the ocean.
This is a project promoted by all of Japan in order to expand the circle of actions that will be passed on to the future.
