We are taking on the challenge of funding “The first Izumo Ekiden participation in university history! Okayama University Athletics Club Ekiden Strengthening Project.”
The Okayama University Track and Field Club won second place for the first time in 38 years at the 67th Chuo-Shikoku Student Ekiden Race held in November last year, and is one of the three major student relay races to be held in October of this year, “Izumo.” We have decided to participate in the “Ekiden” for the first time in our school’s history.
This time’s crowdfunding aims to use this first participation in the Izumo Ekiden as an opportunity for the club to become a “regular school in the country” that can participate in the student ekiden every year. This is a project created only by members.
The funds raised through crowdfunding will be used for training expenses such as transportation costs on the day of the Izumo Ekiden and training camps at cool highlands during the hot summer months. For crowdfunding, unique course names related to the story of “Momotaro” are set depending on the amount of support, and original goods such as “Izumo Ekiden participation commemorative Okaya University support sports towel” are planned as return gifts.
Shinnosuke Fukunaga (3rd year, Faculty of Education), who is in charge of crowdfunding and long-distance part leader of the club, said, “I don’t want this Izumo Ekiden to end with just my first appearance.Like every year, Okayama University’s yellow Our goal is to build a strong team that can run through Izumoji and Iseji in this uniform.” As of May 23rd, we have received over 2 million yen in crowdfunding support, exceeding our initial goal of 1 million yen and now aiming for our next goal of 3 million yen. The implementation period is until 23:00 on June 17th, so we appreciate your continued support. This information was disclosed at the Okayama University regular press conference held on May 23, 2024.
