A three-story wooden tenant building was constructed in Muko City, Kyoto, using a curtain wall made of wood and wood produced within Kyoto Prefecture, and a tour of the structure was held on June 14th and 15th.
*New possibilities for wooden facades in wooden buildings, an SDG project that uses local trees and leads to environmental conservation* LIV Co., Ltd. (Head office: 141 Nanotsubo, Terado-cho, Muko City, Kyoto Prefecture, Representative Director: Ken Hatono) will construct a tenant building owned and operated by the company, and will complete construction on Friday, June 14, 2024 (Friday, June 15, 2024). A preview event will be held for businesses over two days on Saturday. Wooden buildings have excellent earthquake resistance, fire
resistance, and durability, and from an environmental perspective, the government is promoting the use of locally produced wood, and their use is progressing. The facility is a three-story wooden building made from locally sourced wood from Kyoto Prefecture, and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024.
* -Wooden construction using timber produced within Kyoto City, which leads to local environmental conservation-*
The facility has a total floor area of 854.88 square meters. , a three-story wooden building with a frame wall structure, using domestic timber for the main structure. Wood produced within Kyoto Prefecture accounts for over 20% of domestically produced timber.

Forests occupy three-quarters of the land area of Kyoto Prefecture, and 40% of this is artificial forest intended for use as building materials, and in 10 years, nearly 90% of the forest will be usable. In order to keep forests healthy, it is important to replant trees on logging sites while making effective use of forest resources, but this practice is currently slow to progress.
In March 2011, Kyoto Prefecture formulated the “Basic Policy for Promoting the Use of Wood Produced in Kyoto Prefecture in Public Buildings, etc.” and is working to promote the use of wood produced within Kyoto Prefecture and wood produced in each municipality.

Based on this current situation, this facility can be said to be a building that is considerate of the local environment by using wood produced within Kyoto City as structural material.

* -Curtain walls made of wood, which are used in large-scale facilities, are adopted in medium-sized wooden buildings, creating new possibilities for wooden facades-*
Curtain walls made of wood, which are currently used in large-scale buildings such as Kyoto City Hall, Kyoto City Kamigyo Ward General Office Building, airports, and universities, have now been adopted for medium-sized wooden buildings. Conventional wooden fittings had problems with weather resistance, such as the wood parts deteriorating due to rain and UV rays, but by using aluminum on the interior side, high weather resistance has been achieved.
In addition, due to the characteristics of wooden buildings
constructed using the 2×4 (two-by-four) construction method, applying a fireproof coating would make the exterior look less wooden, so we used interior finishing materials that utilize wood produced within Kyoto Prefecture. By doing so, we aimed to enhance the warmth of wood and its value as a local landmark.
* -Structure tours for businesses will be held on June 14th (Friday) and 15th (Saturday)-*
We hold on-site previews for businesses where you can get a feel for the special features of each facility.
We also accept consultations on large wooden buildings provided by LIV Co., Ltd.
