Currie Impact & Innovation No. 1 Investment Limited Partnership (Curry Fund) is an impact investment fund that solves local issues and is operated by Umusan Lab Co., Ltd. (Umusan Lab), which supports social entrepreneurs in Okinawa. ”) has invested 8 million yen in WALLTECH Co., Ltd. (Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as “WALLTECH”), which manufactures and sells fiber panels and art walls made from upcycled waste resources.
In addition to this investment, WALLTECH will receive a loan of 20 million yen from the Okinawa Promotion and Development Finance Corporation (Chairman: Yoshihisa Kawakami, hereinafter referred to as “Okinawa Corporation”) as a loan to support companies addressing social issues in Okinawa. .
WALLTECH will manufacture and sell textile panels using discarded clothing and agricultural films in Okinawa Prefecture, using the funds raised from this investment and joint financing from the Okinawa Corporation (total of 28 million yen). We aim to promote our business and create an upcycle model from Okinawa that has the potential to be expanded outside the prefecture.
■Social issues that WALLTECH is tackling and the society we want to realize
Approximately 1,000 tons of agricultural plastic greenhouses and other materials are discarded every year in Okinawa, some of which is incinerated or landfilled. Additionally, many clothing items are manufactured using multiple types of fibers, making them difficult to recycle even with current technology, and issues such as being incinerated or landfilled remain. By providing textile panels and art walls made by upcycling discarded clothing, agricultural films, etc., WALLTECH realizes local circulation of waste resources using art and technology, benefiting both the earth and people. We aim to create a kind and comfortable society.

■About the role of Curry Fund
Curry Fund is an impact investment fund that invests in companies that achieve both economic returns and social impact in order to solve various social issues in Okinawa.
Currie Fund has recognized WALLTECH’s upcycling technology to create fiber panels from waste resources and the management team’s enthusiasm for creating a new market for art walls, and has recognized WALLTECH’s upcycle technology to create fiber panels from waste resources, as well as the management team’s enthusiasm for creating a new market for art walls. We decided to invest in this project in hopes of upcycling and creating a society that is kind to both the earth and people. After this investment, WALLTECH will support the realization of the society it aims for through the practice of impact measurement and management (IMM).
