The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has certified agricultural lodging areas that attract foreign visitors to Japan as “SAVOR JAPAN” (regions that spread agricultural lodging and food culture overseas) with the appeal of local cuisine, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries that support it, and traditional culture. We are communicating the charms of each region to the world in an integrated manner.
We are accepting applications for regional initiatives to be newly certified as “SAVOR JAPAN” in FY2020 from today, June 3rd (Monday) to July 31st (Wednesday).

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has designated agricultural lodging areas that are working to attract inbound tourists by communicating the appeal of food and food culture as “Agricultural Lodging and Food Culture Overseas Dissemination Areas (SAVOR JAPAN).” . By comprehensively and powerfully promoting the appeal of local food and food culture overseas as the “SAVOR JAPAN” brand, we aim to attract inbound demand to rural areas. Interest in Japanese food and food culture is increasing worldwide, and the Japan Tourism Agency’s “Survey on Consumption Trends of Foreigners Visiting Japan” found that “Japanese food” was the number one thing foreigners expected before visiting Japan. The results show that eating . Under these circumstances, last December marked the 10th anniversary of the registration of “Japanese cuisine” as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and in 2025 the
“Osaka-Kansai Expo” will be held, and in 2027 the “Yokohama Flower Expo” will be held. As Japan approaches Japan, it is necessary to strengthen the system for accepting foreign visitors to Japan from the perspective of promoting Japan’s food and food culture and attracting tourists to regional areas. Applicant organizations/qualifications and application method (1) The implementing organization specified in Part 3, Section 8 of the Implementation Guidelines for the “Agriculture Accommodation and Food Culture Overseas Dissemination Area” application organization shall apply as a single entity. (2) Eligibility for application Efforts that meet all the requirements stipulated in No. 3 of the Implementation Guidelines for “Agricultural Accommodation and Food Culture Dissemination Areas Overseas” are eligible. (1) Selection method: Out of the efforts that have been applied for, particularly outstanding efforts will be recognized as “SAVOR JAPAN (Agriculture Accommodation and Food Culture Overseas Dissemination Area)”.・During the selection process, we may conduct on-site surveys or interviews. (2) Publication of certification results and issuance of certification certificates will be announced on the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website around December 2020. Additionally, certificates will be issued at a certificate award ceremony to be held in Tokyo at a later date. (3) Support for SAVOR JAPAN certified regions – In order to spread the word that SAVOR JAPAN is an all-Japan brand, we will centrally disseminate information on the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website and the SAVOR JAPAN brand website. We will increase our appeal to foreigners overseas and visiting Japan.・We will dispatch experts to help uncover and refine your food experience.・We will support participation in business meetings attended by travel-related people. – We will hold training sessions, etc. to support the acquisition of knowledge, sharing of case studies, and networking among certified regions.・We will disseminate support measures, etc. from government-related organizations in a timely manner.
