Suzuki Herb Research Institute Co., Ltd. will be releasing “My Herbal Notebook Complete 4-Volume Set” from June 15, 2024 (Saturday). “My Herbal Notebook” is a mini-book series that consists of 4 volumes and is packed with wisdom for living a healthy life using herbs. The herbs we introduce were selected from over 500 types of herbs grown in the herb garden adjacent to our head office in Tokai Village, Ibaraki Prefecture. To commemorate our 20th anniversary on September 17th of this year, we will be selling a 4-volume set with a limited edition box for ¥3,850 (tax included).

“My Herbal Notebook” is written by Sachiyo Suzuki, the author and representative of the Suzuki Herb Institute, who selects from over 500 types of herbs grown in her own herb garden in Tokai Village, Ibaraki Prefecture, and explains their efficacy and effectiveness. We introduce how to use it, the basics and tips for cultivation, how to harvest, how to store and use it, etc. This mini-book is filled with the author’s desire to “serve as a talisman to help you live a healthy and peaceful life.”

Suzuki Herb Research Institute considers all plants useful to humans to be “herbs.” Plants that you often see in your garden or on the roadside, and that you think are just grass, may actually be herbs. We are also posting information about our herb garden online in the hope that people will come into contact with familiar herbs and live a healthy and fulfilling life.

To mark the 20th anniversary of our founding, we have enriched the area within the garden with a focus on herbs listed in the “Savior’s Elixir,” which is the basis for the concept of the herb garden.
The 4th volume of “My Herbal Notebook” also introduces ways to use plants that can be found everywhere, such as Houtodyami, which also appears in “Savior’s Elixir.”

This is Japan’s oldest home medical treatment book, which was commissioned by Zumihoan.
The book is about the size of a notebook, and contains 130 pages of easy-to-find medicinal herbs that describe 397 medicinal recipes for treating illnesses and injuries. Published in 1693, “Chimin Miyaku” was used not only by the Mito domain but also by many people across Japan, and became a long-selling book that lasted until the Meiji and Taisho eras.
