Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) is a painter representing the art style Art Nouveau, which flourished in Europe from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
Mucha’s elegant female statues painted with botanical patterns continue to fascinate many people to this day.

It was in Paris at the end of the 19th century that Czech Mucha became a darling of the times. The advertising poster he drew for the play “Gismonda” starring stage actress Sarah Bernhardt became a huge hit, and he left a brilliant mark not only as a painter but also as a designer.
However, his love for his homeland of the Czech Republic and the Slavic people remained unchanged, and after returning to the Czech Republic at the age of 50, he expressed the pride of the Slavic people in his works, wishing for peace in his homeland.
