This is the first major exhibition of Cubism in Japan in about 50 years. More than 50 works by approximately 40 artists visiting Japan for the first time
Through paintings, sculptures, and other works, we introduce the complete picture of Cubism, which was the true starting point of 20th century art. *
* We will inform you of the highlights of this exhibition and information on advantageous goods sets and discount tickets exclusive to the Kyoto venue. *
* POINT[1] The first major Cubism exhibition in Japan in 50 years, over 50 works from the authentic Center Pompidou in Paris will be exhibited for the first time in Japan! *
The door to new beauty opened by Picasso and Braque – the first large-scale Cubism exhibition in Japan in 50 years, exhibiting approximately 130 works, including more than 50 works that came to Japan for the first time. This project was finally realized through a joint project between Japan and France’s leading national art museums. It reveals the full picture of Cubism, which became the true starting point of 20th century art.

* POINT [2] 12 Picasso items, 15 Black items Relive thrilling modeling experiments including early masterpieces! *
Relive the adventure of Cubism by two genius painters in an
unprecedented volume. The ever-changing and ever-evolving body of work is all first-class. Among them, Braque’s important work “Large Nude” (exhibited for the first time in Japan), which was created in response to Picasso’s primitive nude images, and Picasso’s masterpiece “Woman in an Armchair”, which is representative of the Center Pompidou, are must-sees.

* POINT[3] Photography allowed! The 4-meter-wide masterpiece “City of Paris”, a popular work from Center Pompidou, comes to Japan for the first time! *
We also introduce many works by the “Salon Cubists” who created a Cubist sensation with a different approach from Picasso and Braque. Among them, Robert Delaunay’s “City of Paris”, which is 4 meters wide and is being shown in Japan for the first time, is one of the masterpieces that symbolizes Center Pompidou. Many works can be photographed at the venue.
