NeoCon (National Exposition of Contract Interior Furnishings) is the largest commercial interior exhibition in North America, held every year since 1969 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, USA.
Okamura has set its new global brand concept as “To the last detail.” which means Okamura’s unique philosophy of paying close attention to the invisible aspects such as behind the scenes, details, and production processes of products. , is the exhibition theme of “NeoCon 2024”. At “NeoCon 2024”, through the four areas of
“Installation”, “Engineering”, “Scene”, and “Feeling Room”, you will be able to experience the comfort of sitting with new materials and the hidden beauty behind the seat that is difficult to see from the finished product. We will be exhibiting Okamura products’ “To the last detail.” from various angles, including an introduction where you can feel the craftsmanship hidden within the backrest.
We will also exhibit the seating “Spectra,” which will go on sale in North America from August.

―Four areas that express “To the last detail.”―
The “installation” displayed at the entrance depicts an evolution of Okamura’s proprietary technology “Different Hardness Cushion,” which thoroughly pursues the comfort of workers. The “Different Hardness Cushion” is a cushion molded from three types of urethane with different hardness, and is used on the seat of a chair so that it hugs the shape of the buttocks and thighs, reducing the burden on the person sitting on it. We created a giant cushion that reproduces this using a 100% recyclable polyethylene net-like structure. In
“Engineering,” which introduces the precise technological capabilities that Okamura has cultivated, you can discover ideas that are full of detailed ingenuity and consideration for people hidden in the invisible parts of products. We will hold an exhibition where you can feel the hidden beauty behind the seat and the craftsmanship hidden in the backrest, which is hard to see from the finished products displayed in a normal showroom. There is a “Scene” that recreates the unique Japanese way of working in an office that emphasizes teams, and a “Feeling Room” that is filled with chairs representing Okamura. This exhibit allows you to experience the comfort that technology brings.
―Seating “Spectra”―
“Spectra” is a universal design office chair released in Japan in November 2022. The reclining mechanism “Active move” realizes a movement that flexibly follows the body by reclining from a slightly forward-leaning posture to a backward-leaning posture and a function of bending the seat back to the left and right, allowing workers to move naturally. I will support you. The clean and simple design due to the thin and compact mechanism blends in with any space. A simple structure with a reduced number of parts reduces weight and reduces environmental impact.
