For Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Cruise collection is an opportunity to retrace the footsteps of Christian Dior around the world. It’s also a visual journey that evokes new experiences every time. Presented in the gardens of Drummond Castle, a treasure trove of architecture and history, the show celebrates this unique country’s rich textile heritage and centuries-old craft. In this collection, Scotland’s symbols of the unicorn and thistle flower are sublimated into an unprecedented variation on the Millefleur motif. These motifs are then repurposed into heraldic embroideries, which act as a means of communication in their own right, evoking exceptional savoir-faire that represents indomitable spirit. This is the coat of arms of Mary Stuart, affectionately known as the Queen of Scots. With her, Maria Grazia Chiuri explored the relationship with power through the prism of various forms of needlework, which are themselves many languages. The passionate story is also symbolized by the iconic tartan that elevates the kilt and combines different colors, oscillating between tradition, reinterpretation and transgression. Every look showed contrasting elements, including different textures of materials like velvet and lace. This unique collection is structured by an
interconnected intimacy. As if unraveling the story of the past, a journey with a theme of creativity is unfolding in various different locations.
