Chiyoda Ute Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture) received the Excellence Award (Chiyoda Circular Gypsum Board) at the “Excellent Products and Technology Awards” held at the Ideal Home and Architecture Fair 2024 on May 30th. We received the Japan Institute of Architects Kinki Branch Award (Public Interest Incorporated
Association).
■Outline of award-winning products
“Chiyoda Circular Gypsum Board” is the world’s first recycled gypsum board that uses 100% recycled gypsum made from waste gypsum board as its raw material, achieving carbon neutrality during manufacturing. Although gypsum board is widely used in construction, the law stipulates that waste gypsum board after use must be disposed of at a controlled final disposal site. The amount of waste gypsum board discharged is predicted to increase in the future, and the shortage of managed final disposal sites has become a social issue.
At Chiyoda Ute, we are able to recycle 100% of waste gypsum board as resources* using Tokuyama Chiyoda Gypsum Co., Ltd.’s unique waste gypsum continuous crystal enlarging technology. *There are acceptance conditions for waste gypsum board.
Additionally, in the manufacturing process, we are working to reduce CO2 emissions by using wood biomass boilers and electricity from renewable energy sources.
“Chiyoda Circular Gypsum Board” is a product that promotes the use of waste gypsum board as a raw material and contributes to efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
■What is the Excellent Product/Technology Award?
The purpose of this award is to widely disseminate information to society by awarding outstanding building materials and housing equipment products and technologies, to improve quality and
construction techniques, and to contribute to the further development and improvement of the construction industry as a whole. This is the only award in Japan for building materials and housing equipment recognized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
