◆Comment from Sumida Ward Mayor Toru Yamamoto
In Sumida Ward, we have been promoting various environmental measures through the collaboration of residents, businesses, and the ward toward the realization of a decarbonized society.
In promoting these measures, we have received great cooperation from Tokyo Gas, including providing a variety of knowledge.
We are very happy to be able to conclude this agreement today, June 5th, which is World Environment Day designated by the United Nations. I am very encouraged by the fact that we are able to carry out these initiatives through such mutual cooperation. We will further refine our existing environmental measures and realize an “environmentally friendly and sustainable Sumida.”
◆Comment from Masako Konishi, Managing Executive Officer and Head of Regional Co-creation Company, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.
In Tokyo Gas Group’s 2023-2025 medium-term management plan “Compass Transformation 23-25,” we have set out “balance of stable energy supply and decarbonization” as one of the three main strategies, and we are working with many companies and local governments to achieve both stable energy supply and decarbonization. Through collaboration with everyone, we are moving forward with initiatives aimed at realizing a carbon-neutral society. Last November, we launched IGNITURE, a solution brand that goes beyond energy and solves customer issues.
Through the conclusion of this agreement, the ward, its residents, and business operators will cooperate with each other, and together with Sumida Ward, which aims to promote initiatives toward the realization of “Sumida Zero Carbon City 2050,” our group will continue to build on the expertise that our group has cultivated since its founding. We are very happy to be able to collaborate with our customers by taking advantage of their “trust” and “community-based strengths.” In the future, we will continue to work on solving regional issues and creating a sustainable town through value co-creation with Sumida Ward.
