Chiba City (Mayor: Shunichi Kamiya) and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.
(President: Shinichi Sasayama, hereinafter referred to as “Tokyo Gas”) have recently entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement (hereinafter referred to as the “Agreement”) to realize a sustainable local community. concluded.
This agreement aims to further revitalize the region and resolve regional issues by effectively utilizing the resources and know-how possessed by both Chiba City and Tokyo Gas.
The two parties have previously collaborated on initiatives such as an agreement regarding gas disaster prevention measures in the event of a disaster, holding energy-themed courses for citizens, and cooperation in crime prevention. With the conclusion of this comprehensive agreement, we will proceed with initiatives in a wider range of fields, including the promotion of decarbonization and the development of safe and secure cities.

Tokyo Gas has a long history of cooperation in areas such as disaster prevention, safety, and the environment, including an agreement regarding gas disaster prevention measures in the event of a disaster, a memorandum of cooperation regarding crime prevention in the city, and participation in the regional council for global warming countermeasures. We have been working on collaborative efforts in various fields, but in order for our city to be chosen as a place to live and continue to live for a long time in a society with a declining population, we need to reduce wind and flood damage and earthquake damage caused by global warming. In light of the increasing risk of disasters, including damage, it is more important than ever to work together to create sustainable communities where people can live with peace of mind.
In the future, in partnership with Tokyo Gas, we will cooperate in promoting the spread of Zero Carbon Action, support the environmental improvement of evacuation shelters, strengthen local oversight by participating in Chiba Repo, and dispatch instructors to schools implementing priority environmental studies.
