Gakken Studyie (Saitama City/President: Masahiro Kametani) will hold this year’s 4th free trial (trial session) of the “World Heritage Course” on Saturday, July 6, 2020. *

* [Background] *
Gakken Study Co., Ltd. operates in the early stages of its founding, in addition to domestic cram school businesses such as Preparatory School Sign One (Saitama Prefecture), Taishi Seminar in Fukushima Prefecture (Fukushima Prefecture), and Asunaro Gakuin (Miyagi Prefecture), and the all-English nursery school Beans International Preschool. We have opened new cram schools in Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, and this year in California, USA. Through this experience, I have strongly realized the importance of knowing world-standard ways of seeing and thinking.
In order to help children spread their wings in an ever-evolving global society, we have spent two years preparing them for the “Global Culture Acquisition” program.
We are currently recruiting participants for the second class of the World Heritage Course.

Very popular world heritage course! The stage for this experience session is Cappadocia, Turkey!

*1. Universal education, global perspective *
World heritage sites are often seen or heard about on TV, the internet, and in books. However, there are few opportunities to learn the background of each heritage site, such as how it was registered. In this course, you will learn about World Heritage Sites as a universal education, while acquiring the ability to view geography, history, environmental issues, etc. from a global perspective. *2. Cross-curricular/cross-disciplinary thinking ability *
Studying world heritage sites provides an opportunity to come into contact with various fields of study that were previously unknown to you. When learning a subject, students often learn within the scope of one field, but learning about World Heritage sites does not fit into a specific field. By learning across multiple disciplines, you will develop an attitude of thinking about things from multiple angles. (Example) Art/architecture/culture/traditions/values/great
figures/people of the world/geopolitics/global
environment/religion/philosophy/statistics etc.
*3. Non-cognitive skills developed through group work *
“Non-cognitive abilities” are internal skills that are difficult to quantify through tests. There are many areas that overlap with the “qualities and abilities to be developed” specified in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s new curriculum guidelines, and this is an area that will be most needed in the coming era. The World Heritage Course introduces a curriculum that fosters “non-cognitive abilities” through group work.
