*2024 SDGs QUEST Mirai Koshien 1st event area announced! SDGs action idea contest for high school students! “2024 SDGs
We will announce the holding area for “QUEST Mirai Koshien”.* *Mirai Koshien promotional media published in April 2024 “SDGs QUEST” will be held for the 6th time this year.
“Mirai Koshien” is scheduled to begin accepting applications from September for high school students attending 4,898 schools (including special needs schools and correspondence schools) in 19 areas (33 prefectures) nationwide, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. (As of Thursday, June 6th)
“SDGs QUEST
“Mirai Koshien” is a program in which high school students themselves take the initiative to address environmental issues such as climate change, ecosystems, water, and resource issues, as well as social issues such as poverty, food issues, social inequality, and ethical consumption that local communities around the world and Japan face. Explore issues, form teams, and achieve SDGs in 2030
This is a competition to present and award solutions to problems aimed at achieving goals.
Last year, we received entries from 7,255 students. A variety of action ideas were collected, from global problem-solving ideas to local problem-solving ideas, and winning teams were selected for each area.
The SDGs action ideas of the 229 finalists nationwide in 2023 will be published as the “2030 Inquiry Newspaper,” a dissemination and enlightenment medium that includes presentation videos using QR codes, to provide hints for this year’s inquiry learning. It is distributed to high schools.
Some teams have since turned their ideas into reality with support from companies and organizations. We continue to aim to implement high school students’ ideas into society.
This educational project is co-sponsored by an executive committee made up of regional SDG experts who agree with the purpose and local media in the venue, and is held with the support of the United Nations Information Center, local governments, and boards of education. will be done.
Application guidelines can be found on the official website below. For more information: https://sdgs.ac
In addition, the 19 teams that won the top prize in each area last year will gather together at the national exchange meeting (online) scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th, 2024, and share their actions. Participants will participate in workshops that transcend areas and schools based on social themes. Furthermore, from among them, multiple teams with the highest degree of sympathy were selected by high school judges to be selected at the SDGs QUEST, an event to discuss the future to be held in Akasaka, Tokyo on Thursday, August 8th.
We invite you to “Mirai Koshien Future Session”.
From among the teams that entered in 2024, we are planning to hold a national exchange event at the Japan World Expo to be held in Osaka in 2025, and are aiming to make this a reality.
This competition emphasizes not only theory and knowledge, but also providing high school students with early learning opportunities to acquire practical skills and abilities. Students apply what they have learned at home and in the community, developing the ability to address social and business issues.
We are looking forward to receiving many student entries this year as well, with the aim of creating an innovative educational model that will help the participating students develop their abilities to achieve self-realization and contribute to society, and provide meaningful learning toward their goals.
