In 2022, ist (pronounced: IST), a three-person unit formed by neighbors within a 10-minute walk, has released eight singles, including this one, during their two-year career.
Vocalist Kei Inoue and 4ho were classmates in high school and university, and at the time they formed a duo and mainly performed in the hallways of their school. After that, they built up their careers in separate bands, and when they reunited after a long time, ΣKIYM (pronounced: Ekeem), who is like a good older brother from the neighborhood, joined them. This work “Encore” was written and composed by Inoue and arranged and produced by ΣKIYM. 4ho created the artwork for all eight works. It is an impressive song with lyrics that express anxiety and determination for the future that continues uninterrupted. This is a song that anyone who feels a little tired and wants to stop in a hurry should listen to.

One day, I suddenly received an email from my mother even though we hadn’t exchanged anything.
At that time, I was feeling a little depressed, so hearing her say, “My mother is amazing,” made a big impression on me.
That’s the first thing I thought of when I heard this song.
At the same time, the lyrics remind me of parts of my life over the past eight years, when Mr. Inoue has lived nearby.
Things that make you want to scream out loud when you remember them, things that are a little different from what you had imagined, things that make you feel like you’re the only one standing still, things like life.
But I have no choice but to move on! I interpret it as a song like that. I hope that it will be an opportunity for everyone who listens to it to say “Okay!”

Regarding my new album “Encore,” the first demo sound source that Keiko-chan sent me was a piano accompaniment with a jazz-like atmosphere.
Rather than a danceable arrangement, I thought I’d try making it a bit more chill and lo-fi. So, I tried making it in a different way than usual.
I especially like the lyrics of this song, and personally it touched my heart. I wonder if it will be a song of salvation for people who have similar anxiety on a daily basis…
I don’t know about you, but I feel like I can empathize with the fact that there are other people who feel the same way.

(When they were in high school, they mainly worked in the school hallway as “Shinoke”) In 2022, ΣKIYM from “nego” joined and started activities as a new unit “ist”.
