A concert in which singer-songwriters such as Sakurako Ohara and Rihwa and contemporary classical artists perform together with an orchestra. Today, additional performers were announced, including next-generation violinist Ai Takamatsu and notable performer Yuri Horiuchi, who made her professional debut on TV Asahi’s “Untitled Concert”. A comment has arrived from Rihwa, who will be appearing this time. A singer-songwriter from Sapporo, Hokkaido. After graduating from junior high school, he decided to study abroad in Canada on his own and spent three years of high school in Belleville, Canada. Before you know it, the country music that was playing in the city naturally becomes ingrained in your body. During her studies, she happened to perform at a vocal class music event. Kelly Clarkson performed “Because of You” in front of a large audience for the first time, and was shocked by the power that music can give, transcending borders and languages. ──This year marks the 10th anniversary of the release of “Harukaze,” which can be said to be Rihwa’s signature song. Could you please tell us your thoughts on the song again? I’m genuinely happy that this song has grown into a song that will be loved by so many people for a long time. The drama “Boku no Ita Jikan”, which was used as the theme song, is a wonderful work that makes us face life even though we are suffering and think about what “living” means. Even after 10 years, I still feel a strong bond with this work every time I sing it. Once again, I am filled with gratitude to everyone who was involved in this song. And I would like to continue singing Rihwa’s “Harukaze” with great care, so that it will continue to grow into a song that is close to the lives of many people. ──You will be singing with an orchestra in the August performance “Summer Gala Orchestra Concert 2024”, please tell us your thoughts on the performance. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of “Harukaze” this year, we released an orchestral version in February of this year. I was very happy to be able to use it as a sound source, but I also wanted to share with you the feeling that the overlapping sound of an orchestra that can only be experienced live envelops your whole body and resonates to the core of your chest, bringing tears to your eyes. I’m very happy to be able to do this, and although it’s a little early, I’m looking forward to everyone’s reactions.
──Finally, please give a message to everyone! If you are seeing an orchestra for the first time, we recommend you experience it at least once in your life! Please take this opportunity to come and be surrounded by a full orchestra and songs! Hearing a live orchestra is amazing. An emotion you’ve never felt before is waiting for you! A special arrangement of “Harukaze” sung with an orchestra in the background is scheduled to be performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theater Concert Hall on August 16th, a special arrangement that has evolved from the version released in February.
