From October 2024, Japan Video Translation Academy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Naoki Shinraku, hereinafter referred to as “JVTA”) will provide students with the basics of translation and interpretation while strengthening their English skills. We will renew the “Preparatory Course”. To commemorate the renewal, we will be offering a tuition discount of up to $800 for those who will start studying abroad in the October 2024 term. ■JVTA Los Angeles, established in 2008 as a private vocational training school in Los Angeles where students can study interpretation and translation on an M-1 visa, has been approved by the U.S. authorities as a school eligible for “vocational training students (M-1 visa)” and accepts international students. We are accepting applications. The courses include the “Video Translation Major,” which aims to acquire skills in video translation such as subtitling and dubbing, the “Interpretation and Practical Translation Major,” which aims to acquire basic interpreting and translation skills, and the course that provides full-scale translation and interpreting training. There is a “preparatory course” which is a preparatory course to develop the skills necessary for taking the exam. The Preparatory Course has been suspended since 2020 due to the
coronavirus outbreak, but we have decided to renew it and offer it again. The “Communication Class” taught by native English instructors teaches the unique pronunciation of American English, which Japanese people tend to struggle with, and trains them to express their own opinions in English, as well as provides natural and understandable lessons that are in line with the way English-speaking people think. We will also give you tips on how to write easy English sentences. English that leads to not only “English that allows you to understand the general outline and communicate” but also “accurately understand the other person’s words and convey them accurately to a third party in another language” in interpreting and translation. I will acquire strength. This course also includes classes on video translation, practical translation, and interpretation, and instructors who are active interpreters and translators and have a deep understanding of the differences between Japanese and English will teach you the areas that Japanese people are weak at. We will provide guidance based on this. In the video translation class, we use video materials to learn colloquial expressions and real English expressions often used by native speakers, while also learning how to interpret the video work itself.
