[Saitama Prefecture] “SKIP City International D-Cinema Film Festival 2024” will be held from July 13th (Saturday)!
～Gateway to success for young video creators～

In this prefecture, together with Kawaguchi City and the Kawaguchi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we will be holding the “SKIP City International D-Cinema Film Festival” starting July 13th (Saturday). In addition to screening 24 nominated films selected from submissions from all over the world, we will also be implementing a number of new projects, including a special feature titled “Films Everyone Wants to See.”
During the screening period, a free direct bus will run from the west exit of JR Kawaguchi Station to SKIP City. We look forward to your visit and viewing.

(1) Opening (Saturday, July 13th, 2:00 p.m.)
An opening ceremony and opening screening will be held.
The film “Beginner Acting Lesson” (directed by Takeshi Kushida, winner of the 2020 SKIP City Award at this film festival) produced by Saitama Prefecture will be screened as the opening film.

(2) Competition (Screen screening: July 14th (Sunday) to 20th (Saturday)*) In the international competition, 10 feature films will be screened, and in the domestic competition, 6 feature films and 8 short films will be screened as nominees.
Both films will be screened for the first time in Japan.
*Online distribution will be from July 20th (Saturday) to July 24th (Wednesday). (3) Closing (Award Ceremony) (Sunday, July 21st, 11:00am)
We will announce and award awards from the international competition and domestic competition, and screen the winning work for the international competition’s Best Picture Award.
(4) Special screenings and related projects, etc.
(A) Special feature “Projects that everyone wants to see” (July 18th (Thursday) – 19th (Friday))
We will screen the works that ranked in the top 4 in the preliminary survey. After the screening of “Top Gun Maverick,” we will invite movie subtitle translator Natsuko Toda to hold a special talk event titled “How to enjoy movie subtitle translation.”

1. D Cinema Marche (July 13th (Saturday) 11:00-20:00, July 14th (Sunday) 11:00-18:00)
A PR event for this film festival will be held at Kawaguchi Station East Exit Public Square (Cupo La Square). At the venue, there will be performances by a brass band and many delicious and attractive local restaurants.
2. Outdoor screening (July 14th (Sunday) and 15th (Monday/holiday) from 7:00pm) The movies “Pets 2” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” that parents and children can enjoy for free will be screened on the promenade in SKIP City.

We will be holding free workshops where children can experience the joy of film production, including ones where children can participate while moving their bodies, as well as ones where they can experience everything from creating a scenario to showing it while receiving guidance from instructors from the Film School of Art.
