This year’s international competition nominated 10 works after a rigorous preliminary screening. Director Kazuya Shiraishi, who has directed numerous hit films since his debut, will serve as the chairman of the jury, and after the final screening, various awards will be presented, including the Best Picture Award.

Horror, historical dramas, road movies, animation, human dramas… This year as well, we have a collection of ambitious works with different tastes and genres. Don’t miss your chance to be the first to experience the breath of new talent that will open up the future of Japanese cinema. Director Satoko Yokohama will serve as the
chairperson of the jury, and after the final screening, awards will be made for the best films in both the feature and short film categories. The SKIP City Award is given to domestic directors who feel they have potential for future feature film production.

The opening of the SKIP City International D-Cinema Film Festival 2024 is starring Katsuya Maikuma, who starred in “Ken to Kazu,” which was nominated in the short film category in 2011. In 2020, she won the SKIP City Award at this film festival for “Photographed Woman.” Last year, “My Mother’s Eyes” was nominated for the second time in a row, and “Beginner Acting Lessons” directed by Takeshi Kushida! Special feature “The path to becoming a commercial film director” He will share his experiences as a commercial film director for young film directors!
We have invited director Kazuya Shiraishi, chair of the international competition jury, and director Satoko Yokohama, chair of the domestic competition jury, to screen their films and talk to young filmmakers about their experiences as commercial film directors. I’ll have it. We will conduct a survey to find out which masterpieces everyone wants to see, and we will select the top 4 films for a special screening. “Drive My Car,” “Stand by Me,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” and “The Shawshank Redemption” will be screened. Whether you’re feeling nostalgic or seeing it for the first time, please watch it on the big screen. After the screening of “Top Gun Maverick,” we will invite Natsuko Toda, a movie subtitle translator, to talk about movie translation. In addition to the SKIP City International D-Cinema Film Festival’s usual outdoor screenings and camera crayons, we will also be holding a workshop where both children and adults can have fun learning about images. In addition, a marche will be held at Kawaguchi Station East Exit Public Square (Cupo La Square).
Free passes for competition works will go on sale from 10:00 on Friday, June 21st, and reserved seat tickets for each work will go on sale from 10:00 on Tuesday, June 25th. Please check the ticket page for details.
