“COOL distribution board” that protects outdoor equipment from heat with zero energy jointly wins the “Best Development Award” in the technology category of the 35th Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan Awards
……
SPACECOOL Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and CEO: Masahiro Suemitsu, hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) has developed a system with Seiritz Kogyo Co., Ltd. and Takenaka Corporation that increases the temperature inside the switchboard due to direct sunlight. We are pleased to announce that the three companies jointly received the 35th Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan Award in the technology category in recognition of their development achievements in the “COOL distribution board,” which can suppress energy consumption with zero energy.

About COOL distribution board
Conventional power distribution boards have been faced with the issue of deterioration due to direct sunlight, which shortens their lifespan, as the electronic devices inside are sensitive to heat. On the other hand, the COOL distribution board is a distribution board that is equipped as standard with SPACECOOL, a radiation cooling material developed and sold by our company that can lower the temperature with zero energy in direct sunlight, thereby suppressing the temperature rise inside the panel. It is possible to extend the life of electronic equipment.
It has already been introduced at many sites, and in addition to COOL distribution boards, SPACECOOL has been installed on approximately 700 distribution boards (*1) in Japan and overseas.

We have also released an archived video of a webinar that explains the detailed effects of the COOL distribution board, so please take a look.

About the 35th Japan Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan Award This award is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, a general incorporated association, and honors the achievements of its members.
There are three types of awards: academic, technical, and technology promotion, and our company received the Best Development Award, which is given to the most outstanding achievement in the technical category.
―Reason for award (full text)―
Due to global warming, there is an increasing need for heat
countermeasures for electrical equipment such as distribution panels installed outdoors. Problems with heat countermeasures include the use of energy when air blowing and ventilation equipment is built into the outer box of the distribution board, and the problem of an increase in internal temperature due to a decrease in the heat dissipation performance of the outer box when using an outer box with a
light-shielding plate specification. was there. The newly developed COOL distribution board solves this problem with zero energy by applying the radiation cooling material “SPACECOOL” to the outer box.As a result of research into bonding methods, etc., the
specifications of the distribution board were determined. SPACECOOL could be applied without changing. Compared to conventional
distribution boards, it has succeeded in suppressing the rise in internal temperature by about 10°C under summer solar radiation conditions, and it has been confirmed that heat dissipation
performance is maintained for more than 10 years. Initial costs will be suppressed to about 10% increase, and operational benefits can be expected to outweigh the cost increases. This development not only extends the lifespan of outdoor electrical equipment with zero energy, but is also expected to expand into a variety of applications, and we highly rate this development as a significant development.
Going forward, we will continue to work to improve heat issues around the world, aiming to spread the use of radiation cooling technology such as COOL distribution boards.
