Aspiring designers express “Japan” with sand – Introducing the off-campus training at Trident Design College (Minamichita Town, Sankai Coast) –
……
Kawaijuku Group’s Trident Design College (Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City) will be holding an off-campus project to create sand art on the Sankai Coast (Minamichita Town) in the southern part of the Chita Peninsula for two days, June 27th (Thursday) and June 28th (Friday). We will do practical training. First-year students who enrolled this spring will be divided into eight teams and challenge themselves to create sculptures using sand on the beach.
■Get out of the classroom and hone your sensibilities in nature This practical training is a famous event that has continued since the school was founded in 1989, and this year marks the 36th time. The school’s goal is for students to acquire “the ability to discern diverse perspectives and outstanding works,” and expand their range of expression.
This year’s theme is “Japan”. Immediately after entering the school, the new students were divided into teams and had repeated discussions about concepts and designs. On the day of the training, we will be producing and presenting our work. Experience the entire design work through a series of steps. Students who study at desks and PCs on a daily basis leave the school building and take in the abundant nature of Minamichita, such as the sea, sky, wind, and light, and work on their creations by maximizing their sensibilities. A young sensibility expresses various aspects of Japan, such as Japan with its rich four seasons and Japan with its hospitality.
