Utilization of SmartBarcode(R) in the demonstration of digitalization of logistics operations by small and medium-sized logistics operators of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism ~We conducted a demonstration of improving the efficiency of cargo waiting/cargo handling operations using SmartBarcode for small and medium-sized logistics businesses~
……
LOZI Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Martin Roberts, hereinafter referred to as LOZI) is working with multiple logistics companies in the “Demonstration of
digitalization of logistics operations for small and medium-sized logistics companies” conducted by the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has released a leaflet summarizing the overview of the demonstration and the results of verifying its effectiveness, in an effort to demonstrate the efficiency of work through the introduction of digital tools. In this project, two demonstrations were conducted for different purposes, and the effectiveness of each was verified.

The Comprehensive Logistics Policy Outline (FY 2021-FY 2025) states that by 2025, 50% of logistics businesses are working in collaboration with shippers to automate, mechanize, and digitalize logistics operations. The goal is to achieve.
On the other hand, communications between shippers and logistics companies, such as vehicle arrangement, quotation creation, vehicle dispatch, acceptance/product inspection, etc., are mostly done by phone, fax, and email, and the reality is that digitalization is slow to progress. .
This demonstration project was conducted with the aim of connecting shippers and logistics operators with digital tools and improving operational efficiency, while minimizing the burden on small and medium-sized businesses in terms of costs.
[Demonstration 1. Improving the efficiency of logistics operations using multiple tools]
In this demonstration, SmartBarcode, which enables visualization of transportation status and cargo waiting time, electronic receipt signature, and automatic inspection using QR code, completes communication with shippers for estimates, orders, and invoices, and facilitates vehicle dispatch planning and management report creation. We have linked possible administrative processing support tools. By being able to complete communication with shippers on the tool, unnecessary communication such as additional confirmations over the phone, etc. that occurred in the past, was eliminated, leading to a reduction in work time, and at the same time, each operation management report could be digitized. By doing so, we were able to eliminate the hassle of manually creating forms.
In addition, inspection using SmartBarcode has reduced the number of inspection errors caused by visual inspection to virtually zero. [Demonstration 2. Improving efficiency mainly in
transportation-related operations]
In this demonstration, as there is a demand for reductions in driver working hours, it is not possible to ascertain how much cargo waiting time is occurring. The time was measured and visualized.
In addition, since there is no system for calculating CO2 emissions during transportation, in order to reduce the burden of manually calculating and reporting emissions when logistics companies are requested by shippers to report CO2 emissions, drivers automatically calculated CO2 emissions during transportation by reading the SmartBarcode and inputting simple information.
We also provided a mechanism to automatically generate reports on waiting time and CO2 emissions. ⚫︎You can download the leaflet “Demonstration of digitalization of logistics operations in small and medium-sized logistics businesses” published by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism from below.

Established in November 2018. Based on the concept of a “product passport that connects the supply chain,” all barcodes are traceable, and when read with a smartphone, barcodes contain a variety of information for each business, location, and service that make up the supply chain. We are developing SmartBarcode(R) that can record. Website: https://lozi.jp
