★From the basics of polymers, we explain the contribution of medical polymers in the medical field along with the latest trends!
Biopharmaceuticals, gene therapy, drug delivery systems, regenerative medicine, and more!
[Knowledge gained at the seminar]
・From biotechnology of medical polymers to synthetic polymers, material design technology related to the fusion of these, and their application areas

[Seminar target audience]
Those who are interested in the development of medical devices, polymers, and middle molecule drugs, and those who want a systematic understanding
Preliminary knowledge of university education chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnology
-Seminar Purpose-
Medical polymers have developed as a research area of polymer science and a field of synthetic polymer science related to medical applications. On the other hand, advances in biotechnology have made it possible to freely design and produce biopolymers such as genes and proteins, and their synthesis methods have also become possible without using living organisms, leading to the development of synthetic and biopolymers. A new chemistry has been born that combines the two.
Based on “Biomedical Polymers” (edited by the Chemical Society of Japan, written by Yoshihiro Ito, Kyoritsu Shuppan), this seminar will cover the basics of conventional biopolymers and synthetic polymers, their chemical modification at the molecular level, We will explain the new methodology called evolutionary molecular engineering and biocomposite materials as a basis, and in the application development, we will discuss the contributions of these chemicals in the medical field from the perspective of diagnosis and treatment, such as companion diagnostics, microchemistry, and diagnostic treatment. We will explain the latest trends in science, biopharmaceuticals (antibody drugs, peptide drugs, nucleic acid drugs), gene therapy, drug delivery systems (DDS), artificial organs, and regenerative medicine.
