The “Reproductive Health Award” is based on the concept of sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR): “Everyone has the right to decide for themselves whether to choose their own sexuality and to have as many children as they want, when they want.” (Executive committee chairperson: Riko Higashio, supervision: JOICFP).
Toward the realization of a society where SRHR is commonplace, this year, the first event, we will highlight 11 people, organizations, products and services that are making outstanding efforts related to sexuality and life, including those in Tokyo. 44 groups were selected for the award, and HIKIDASHI, a specified non-profit organization, received the “VERY Award.”

Since 2022, HIKIDASHI, a specified non-profit corporation, has been promoting “life education” that includes sex education, and its mission is to “bring out the power to live.” The number of lectures on sex education based on the “International Sexuality Education Guidance” will be 76 in 2023, with a total of 7,500 participants. This message is aimed not only at children but also at educators and parents. I sympathized with the action taken by parents and society to learn together and work to change the world, and I wanted to send encouragement to them, so I selected them for the VERY Award. We aim to realize a society where each person can discover and develop their own abilities and potential, and where each person can live a more authentic life through relationships with other people. -MISSION-
We “bring out the power to live” in children, develop their eyes to see the world from various perspectives, and nurture them to be able to think and act on their own.
To this end, we will bring together experts in various fields, including sex education, to provide education and opportunities that will give children awareness from a variety of perspectives. [Current main activities and achievements]
1. Sex education course
We hold various sex education courses for children, parents, teachers, and facility staff.
This course is not just about “gaining knowledge about reproduction and sex,” but also learning about a wide range of topics such as human relationships, human rights, gender, and safety, and thinking about “living” together.

2. sex education cafe
Mainly in Miyagi and Hyogo prefectures, we provide spaces in facilities and university festivals where anyone can feel free to discuss sexuality. In 2020, we held a “Youth Café” mainly aimed at young people such as junior high and high school students, but in 2021 we expanded it into a “Sex Education Café” with a general audience that anyone can participate in. I’ve been doing it.

3. Sex education awareness through picture books
Through his representative work, the picture book “Gekkei no Narashi: Life Stories,” he is working to spread awareness about the importance of sex education from an early age and the diversity of lifestyles. We donate the picture books to schools, child care support centers, and other facilities, and sell them both domestically and
internationally. We also train picture book ambassadors.

As a new initiative for 2025, we collaborated with Mitaina Co., Ltd. to hold “Our Amu Cafe,” a place where people can learn about and talk about menstruation.
