Announcement of investment in MUSE Co., Ltd.
Toshiba Tec Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hironobu Nishikori, hereinafter referred to as “Toshiba Tec”) is a subsidiary of MUSE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hironobu Nishikori), which develops autonomous mobile robot business for retail stores. President and CEO: Yasutaka Kasagi (hereinafter referred to as “MUSE”).

MUSE aims to shine a light on the people who use robots and provide inspiration to the inherent human powers (creativity, inspiration, kindness, communication), and with the aim of “bringing inspiration to people around the world through robots.” We are a company that aims to create a society where humans and robots can coexist with robots that are optimized for stores.

The store robot “Armo” provided by the company is an autonomous mobile robot optimized for retail stores, and is capable of safely moving inside retail stores where customers and staff are present. In addition, because it is simple and easy to operate, it contributes to the automation of items such as the transportation of goods in stores. Furthermore, by simply replacing the unit, it can be used not only for each use case such as sales floor management and customer service, but also for a wide range of marketing activities such as creating a database and analyzing valuable information on the sales floor, including product shelves. This is a robot that provides stores with a new store experience.
In the future, Armo will expand its multi-use functions, such as collecting images of the sales floor and guiding shoppers. This makes it possible to measure product out-of-stock rates and out-of-stock times, coordinate with inventory work, and monitor shelf allocation. Furthermore, based on the captured images of the sales floor, the system displays the location and images of product shelves to shoppers, and guides them to the actual sales floor, contributing to improving the value of the store experience.

Through this investment, Toshiba Tec will work with MUSE to create value for the retail industry in order to contribute to resolving labor shortages and improving productivity in the retail industry, with the aim of solving social issues.
