The main character, Takuto, is played by Shoma Nakasu, who is also attracting attention for his performance in the movie “Kakushigoto”. Ittoku Kishibe plays Mr. Tanaka, an elderly man who develops a friendship with Takuto despite the age difference. Tsuyoshi Sakurai, who wrote the TV drama series “Boogie Woogie,” is in charge of the script.

Synopsis
“Friendship with Mr. Tanaka, who used to be the same age as me” Futaba Bunko Takuto, Shinobu, and Utaka are 6th graders and are a trio of close friends who love skateboarding. At my newly found cool place to practice skateboarding, I met Mr. Tanaka, the shrine’s caretaker. From that day on, the 11-year-old and the 85-year-old started interacting. Mr. Tanaka is a kind person who always listens calmly and is “seriously on the level of a bodhisattva.” However, when Tanaka was 11 years old, just like Takuto and his friends, he lost his family and home in the war. Michiko Yazuki
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1970. In 2002, she made her debut by winning the Kodansha Children’s Literature Newcomer’s Award for “Juunisai”. In 2007, he received the Noma Children’s Literature Award for “Shizukana Hibi”, the Tsubota Joji Literary Award in 2008, the Kanagawa Book Award for “Tomorrow’s Dining Table” in 2017, and Shogakukan in 2020 for “Friendship with Mr. Tanaka, who used to be the same age as me”. Received the Children’s Publishing Culture Award. Her other books include “Ruri-nee,” “14-Year-Old Horizon,” “Jun Cafe Paon,” and “Kitoto Couple’s Journey.”
