Touring Nogata, Munakata, and Kitakyushu with former professional road racer Masahiko Mifune, “GO with Nishitetsu’s CYCLE CARGO!” ! We held a 2-day event from May 25th to May 26th.

Nishi-Nippon Railway Co., Ltd. held a tour on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th, 2024 using “CYCLE CARGO,” which allows bicycles to be brought in without disassembling them. On this tour, we visited Munakata, Ongagawa, and Kitakyushu with former professional road racer Masahiko Mifune, and the tour participants enjoyed Fukuoka.
Tour overview:
A one-night, two-day tour of Munakata Taisha Shrine and the Onga River Cycle Road, attended by former professional road racer Masahiko Mifune (TOJ Kyoto Stage Ambassador). Cycling through Munakata and Kitakyushu cities, which are surrounded by beautiful nature, world heritage sites, and deep history. After enjoying cycling, take the cycle bus “Nishitetsu CYCLE CARGO”. On the bus, we had a great time chatting and having fun in the salon seats with friends who share the common hobby of cycling.
●Tour details
First day:
From Hakata to Munakata. Tour Munakata Taisha Shrine and Oshima, and experience world heritage sites and settings from ancient myths. Take the ferry to Oshima and enjoy cycling and sightseeing.
The goal of the first day was at the roadside station Munakata in Munakata City. ・At Michi-no-Eki Munakata, the goal point on the first day, we were welcomed by the Munakata City Hall.
・At the roadside station Munakata, participants will receive Munakata City’s recommended “Munakata Natural Wakame Dressing” and
“Fisherman’s Ochazuke.”
・The cycle bus “Nishitetsu CYCLE CARGO” will also join you at the goal point. Commemorative photo with everyone with the bus in the background
・After taking a commemorative photo, load the bicycle into the “Nishitetsu CYCLE CARGO”. You can load it without disassembling it, so even your tired body can load it easily.

the 2nd day:
From Nogata to Wakamatsu. Tour the Coal Memorial Museum and the government-run Yawata Steel Works.
Enjoy historical buildings and scenery while cycling through the industrial area of Kitakyushu.
We ended our tour at Blastrodai Park and headed home via Nishitetsu CYCLE CARGO. ・The departure ceremony will be held at the starting point of the second day at Riverside Park Nogata. Members of Nogata City Hall set up a monument at the venue of the departure ceremony, and we were able to take a photo of it with the Nishitetsu CYCLE CARGO.

We all had a great time chatting and having a rock-paper-scissors competition with prizes at stake.
