[Sado x Kodo] Earth Celebration 2024-8/16 (Friday) – 18 (Sunday) – to be held – The Earth will become one in Sado –
*First landing in Japan from Uganda! NAKIBEMBE EMBAIRE GROUP is here! * * 3 exciting days to Sado, full of summer light *
*Earth Celebration (EC) is a historic outdoor festival held on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture, which began in 1988 and is now in its 37th year. *
* This summer, it will be held for 3 days on August 16th (Friday), August 17th (Saturday), and August 18th (Sunday). *
At the main event, the Harbor Concert, you can enjoy the music created by Kodo and artists from Japan and abroad while listening to the sound of waves, watching the sunset and under the starry sky.
This year’s guest is *NAKIBEMBE, a regular at the African music festival “Nyege Nyege Festival” held in *Uganda*.
EMBAIRE GROUP* (Nakibembe Enbert Group) has landed in Japan for the first time! He sings with a giant xylophone called “Enverle,” layering hypnotic polyrhythms, and plays an ensemble that includes vocals, shakers, and drums.
Don’t miss Kodo’s cross-border performance with Kodo, who is passionate about experimental musical expression using electronic music as well as traditional playing techniques!
Furthermore, on the first day and Friday night, a one-night-only concert* will be held featuring Kodo alumni members!
Hiroyuki Hayashida, Ryutaro Kaneko, Yasuichi Kano, and Masayuki Sakamoto will gather together to put on a special performance in which their experiences and personalities intertwine and fuse across generations with current Kodo members.
As a new project this year, we will be holding “*Shiroyama Park Session*” at Shiroyama Park.
Additionally, rest areas have been set up at various locations throughout the area as a measure against the heat. We are making preparations so that you can enjoy music and nature with peace of mind.

In 2024, the main event of Earth Celebration, the Harbor Concert, will be held for three days on August 16th (Friday), August 17th
(Saturday), and August 18th (Sunday). On a special stage in Ogi Minato Park, you can enjoy the music created by Kodo and artists from Japan and abroad while listening to the sound of waves and enjoying the sunset and starry sky.

Alumni members who have been active on the Kodo stage of each generation and continue to be active today gather together.
A one-night-only concert filled with the dreams of past, present, and future taiko-loving boys and girls!

Tataku Kodo×NAKIBEMBE EMBAIRE GROUP
NAKIBEMBE EMBAIRE GROUP and Kodo share the most primitive musical act of “tapping” in common.
Surrounding the gigantic xylophone, Embaire, the beating rhythm and the responding vocal shaker ensemble resonate with the powerful yet delicate sound world created by Kodo, creating a comfortable space. The music of the Busoga people, an eastern Bantu group, is said to be unique in East Africa.
Why not be one of the people who celebrate their sounds, which will be heard for the first time in Japan?

Last year, Shiroyama Park was revived as a new activity field. This year, a new outdoor mini-live “Shiroyama Park Session” will be held in Shiroyama to let you enjoy Shiroyama’s nature and music even more. !Three diverse lineups will be available for two days, August 17th (Sat) and 18th (Sun). Please enjoy the comfort and sense of freedom where sound and nature become one in Shiroyama!
