On June 5th, the debut date (= the date on the colophon of the first volume of the Kodansha Novels edition of “Time Stops in the Cold School Building”), 13 publishers that publish Mizuki Tsujimura’s works will work together to hold a 5 p.m. At 1:53 p.m., they all posted a celebration with the caption “#MizukiTsujimura20thanniversary” and became a trending topic in X’s “Arts and Culture.” Since then, this hashtag has become popular as a tag to congratulate Mr. Tsujimura and convey thoughts about his work. Furthermore, starting the next day on the 6th, congratulatory messages and illustrations received from 14 people for the 20th anniversary will be posted one per day on the official Kodansha Bunko X account (@kodanshabunko). This “20th Anniversary Celebration,” which will warm your heart just by reading or looking at it, is scheduled to be delivered to bookstores as POP and panels. On June 12th, limited editions of Kodansha Novels’ early works “Frozen Whale” and “My Major Spoon” were published. These two works, which are the first to be published in book form following the 15th anniversary edition of “Time Stops in the Cold School
Building,” were designed by Koichi Sakano, a book designer who has worked on many of Tsujimura’s works. It has a special finish suitable for the 20th anniversary, with newly drawn illustrations by Yoshimi Saeki, color edge printing, and attention to detail in the color of the main text and the thickness of the spin (bookmark string). As a bonus, a special bookmark and an invitation to a special online event are also included.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary, a special online event scheduled to be held on August 30th will feature appearances by Mitsuki Tsujimura himself and Koichi Sakano, who designed the cover for the treasured edition. Through a conversation with Mr. Tsujimura, we will talk about the past 20 years, looking back on each book and the behind-the-scenes stories of how the book was made. You can
participate in this event by using the two-dimensional code (URL) included in the invitation enclosed in the treasured edition, or by purchasing the target paperback and winning the event invitation campaign. ■Click here for details such as how to apply
