Pai International Co., Ltd. (Toshima Ward) will publish the book “Yuruwani Bibi: Please teach me how to close my mouth” on June 21, 2024 (Friday).

As soon as I became conscious of it, I didn’t know how to close my mouth. My friends try to help me, but no matter what I do, it just pops open. A picture book filled with the charm of crocodiles, combining cute characters and delicately-touched illustrations.

Hikaru Amemiya: Born in Tokyo in 1994. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Oil Painting, Major in Printmaking. Completed the Fine Arts Department, Graduate School of Art and Design, Musashino Art University. Ever since he first visited the Atagawa Banana and Crocodile Garden while attending university, he has been fascinated by crocodiles and has continued to draw pictures of them. Since 2017, he has been holding a solo exhibition, “Cooking a Crocodile,” every year at Caran d’Ache Ginza Boutique.

We received a comment from crocodile researcher Yusuke Fukuda. Yusuke Fukuda, a crocodile researcher whose picture book “Saltwater Crocodile” (illustrated by Shunichi Seki) will be published by Fukuinkan Shoten on June 19th, wrote a comment on “Yuruwani Bibi: Please tell me how to close my mouth.” I received it.
This is a fun picture book that only crocodile lovers can draw. The cute crocodiles are all different species, and each one’s
characteristics are clearly depicted. For example, the large sailor popo is the largest saltwater crocodile and is known to travel long distances at sea. The name probably comes from its scientific name, Crocodylus porosus. I won’t go into any more wild spoilers, but I think it would be fun to work with the children to think about what kind of crocodile each character is. (Yusuke Fukuda)
