Campus Research Institute releases “Student Growth Rate Report 2024” Campus Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Yo Watabe), which conducts research and consultancy on universities, today announced the “Student Growth Rate Report 2024”. This report introduces, in a ranking format, universities whose student numbers have increased by more than 200% from 2014 to 2023, and analyzes the factors behind their success. Summary of the Report While many universities are struggling to maintain or increase the number of students in Japan, where the birthrate is declining, certain universities are bucking the headwind and achieving significant increases in the number of students. This report focuses on the top 12 universities that have achieved a 200% increase in student numbers over the past nine years, and explores the background and success factors. Major survey results 3rd place Seisen Jogakuin University (Nagano Prefecture) – Number of students increased by 380% in 9 years. The success factor was the establishment of a new faculty of nursing and the strengthening of recruitment through coeducationalization. 2nd place Shubun University (Aichi Prefecture) – Number of students increased by 381%. We have achieved a stable increase in the number of students due to the new establishment of the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Medical Sciences, as well as our advantageous location. 1st place Toto University (Saitama Prefecture) – Number of students increased by 384%. The success of multiple campuses and the
establishment of new departments was a major factor, as was the establishment of nursing and medical departments to meet demand in the medical field due to the declining birthrate and aging population.
