Children under medical care are children who require constant medical care (breathing management with a ventilator, sputum suction, and other medical procedures) in order to carry out their daily and social lives. According to estimates by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (2020), there are approximately 20,000 children in medical care (at home) nationwide. Also, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications*, there are
approximately 600,000 children with disabilities. Society as a whole is required to support the daily and social lives of children receiving medical care and children with disabilities.

The NPO AYA’s mission is to “provide a place for children to expand their worldview through sports, art, and culture.” Our mission is to provide a place for children to expand their worldview through sports, art, and culture.
